Hoang Thuy Linh

Hoàng Thùy Linh (August 11, 1988) is a Vietnamese actress, light music singer. She is well-known for her sex scandal, for which she has been compared to Paris Hilton. As a former student of Hanoi’s College of Art, she was trained to be an actress of Vietnam National Television, also a leading singer sprang from a music band Thien Than (Angels). Besides casting a role as a master of ceremonies in Hanoi TV show Vui cùng Hugo (Joy with Hugo), she also involved into a majority of Vietnam TV series and dramas, interactive TV programs and commercial clips.
Hoang Thuy Linh first appearance as an actress was the role in Đường đời (Way of life) drama as a little girl named Thùy (2004, 25 episodes, Golden Award – Vietnam Drama Festival 2005). After that success, she was involved in two other drama's Trò đùa của số phận (Laugh of destiny) (2005, 18 episodes) filmed by Director Huy Thuần, her Lan role in Đi về phía mặt trời (Journey to the Sun)(2006, 29 episodes) of Director Lưu Trọng Ninh.
In 2006, Hoang Thuy Linh passed the entrance examination into the Department of TV director – Vietnam Acting and Film College and has still been studying in the school since[5].
In 2007 Hoang Thuy Linh was casted for a leading role in the second season of an interactive television program - The Oriole’s Diary originally known as Nhật ký Vàng Anh – a well-received drama due to its educational inspirations to Vietnamese youth[6].
In September 2007, Hoang Thuy Linh got an unexpected sex scandal after an anonymous release of a sex tape, which later quickly spread via the Internet especially in Vietnam, filming her sexual scene with one of her boyfriends[7] The scandal did cause an outcry domestically and internationally with the outstanding involvement of the media from UK and US. The affair generated a majority of public debates in many ways, the teenage youth called for a sympathetic tolerance to Hoang Thuy Linh, while adults as parents in particular, heavily criticized and even informally demanded from her an official apology for indirectly putting the end to an education-oriented TV program of Vietnam’s youth. In September 14, the Oriole’s Diary Director publicly announced the abandonment of the drama filming, coming after another unexpected termination of her role as a MC from the producer of Vui cùng Hugo (Joy with Hugo) program.

After the scandal, still, Hoang Thuy Linh has continued her career as a singer and entertainer and been quite successful in it, especially in Hanoi.

Dang Thai Son, A genuine musician

Dang Thai Son (Vietnamese: Đặng Thái Sơn) (born 1958, Hanoi, Vietnam) is a Vietnamese-Canadian classical pianist. He is known for being the first Asian pianist to win the prestigious International Frederick Chopin Piano Competition in 1980. However, the publicity which surrounded the controversial elimination of Ivo Pogorelić in the third round - leading to the Argentine pianist Martha Argerich quitting the jury in protest - somewhat overshadowed Son's award.

Son has performed in more than 40 countries and on concert stages of such world-renowned halls as Lincoln Center, Barbican Center (London), Salle Pleyel (Paris), Herculessaal (Munich), Musikverein (Vienna), Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Opera House (Sydney) and Suntory Hall (Tokyo).

Son has been featured with world-class orchestras including the Leningrad Philharmonic, Montreal Symphony Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, Dresden Philharmonic, Staatskapelle Berlin, Sydney Symphony and Moscow Philharmonic, and under the direction of great music directors from Sir Neville Marriner and Pinchas Zukerman to Mariss Jansons and Ken-Ichiro Kobayashi.

He has performed throughout the world with celebrated international musicians, including Yo-Yo Ma, Seiji Ozawa, Kathleen Battle, Mstislav Rostropovich, Pinchas Zukerman, Murray Perahia, Vladimir Ashkenazy and Isaac Stern. In addition, he can be heard on Deutsche Grammophon, Melodya, Polskie Nagrania, CBS Sony, Victor JVC and Analekta recording labels.

Son has received acclaim for his interpretations of the music of Chopin. He now resides in Montreal, Canada, where he teaches at the University of Montreal.
